Since 1968 those of Salamoia Bolognese®
Tradition, research and innovation for three generations
Since 1968 we have been producing Salamoia Bolognese® seasoning, monitoring the entire production chain from the field to the packaged product. The most distinctive feature of the product is its use of herbs that have been freshly picked and processed according to tradition and their careful blend with Italian sea salt of distinctive qualities and grains.
Over the years we have accompanied Salamoia Bolognese® with a series of seasonings, herbs, spices and the BioCaber range of organically certified products (by CCPB of Bologna).
In 1990, the “Le Specialità” range was launched. Designed to be distributed exclusively to traditional stores such as butcher’s shops, grocers and delicatessens, it consists of a series of high-quality products in various food segments such as oils, pasta, sauces, preserved fish products and others.
Another milestone for the company came in 2005 with the passing of Law 55 for the prevention of thyroid disorders. With this Law, the Italian Ministry of Health promoted the use of iodised salt and products that contain it, and we took the opportunity to introduce a healthy innovation to our products containing salt. We established a research partnership with the Department of Food Sciences of Bologna University which led to the creation of Presal®, a protected iodised Italian sea salt that guarantees the presence of iodine in the salt and its assimilation by our bodies even after foods have been cooked, as proven by laboratory tests and published clinical studies carried out by the Department of Endocrinology of Pisa University.
The unique technology of Presal® enabled us to create a range of sea salt and seasonings with protected iodine, thus increasing our presence in the major retail and catering service industries.
Today we partner with major Italian food companies that use Presal® as an ingredient to create products that are a “Source of Iodine”. Visit the Health Projects section to meet our Partners.
With over 40 years in the business, our enthusiasm and passion for our work remain the same as ever. We believe in the importance of product Innovation and Research while staying true to Tradition.
Our desire to familiarise the new generations with the world of herbs, fragrances and authentic flavours led us to create our Herb Garden in 2006. This piece of land, located alongside the production plant, has been planted with over 30 varieties of plants and herbs organised according to a specially devised educational plan so it can host free guided visits by schoolchildren, associations and communities of disabled and elderly people. Visit the online section Herb Garden.
We apply methodologies in line with international total quality certification regulations and we carry out controls on raw materials, the production process and end products, conserving production batches to guarantee quality and traceability. We are a UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 certified company, a guarantee of high quality standards. We have also obtained BRC (British Retail Consortium) and IFS (International Food Standard) certification for the management of food safety and quality.
